Privacy

This describes what the software actually does. If you find a place where it doesn't, that's a bug and we want to hear about it.

Last updated 23 August 2026 · clubstage.org

The short version There is no account and we don't want your email. What you say on the stage becomes a public transcript. What you say while listening can become a merged question on the board — that's on by default and switchable in one click. Anyone in the room can record a clip that includes your voice. On Chrome, speech recognition means your microphone audio goes to Google. There are no cookies, no trackers and no advertising.

What we collect

No account, no password, no email address, no phone number, no payment details. We never ask for them and there is nowhere to put them.

WhatWhyWhere it goes
The name you typeSo the room can call you something Shown to the room; appears in the transcript if you take the stage
A random ID in your browserSo the room recognises you across tabs and refreshes Stays in your browser's local storage. Not a cookie, not sent to anyone else
Camera and microphoneSo people can see and hear each other Peer-to-peer, not through our server. Video never touches our machines
What you say on the stageThe record of the conversation Stored on our server. Publicly downloadable as .txt or .md
What you say while listeningFeeds the club culture Becomes a merged question. Never enters the transcript. On by default, switchable at the door and in the room
A photo, if you add oneShown when your camera is off Downscaled in your browser first, then stored on our server and served at a public URL
ClipsA shareable moment from the room Stored on our server at a public link. The audio includes everyone in the room
Invite linksThe leaderboard of who brought people in The name on the link, who made it, and which IDs arrived through it

Speech recognition — read this one

Turning speech into text happens in one of two ways, depending on your browser, and the difference matters:

The room shows you which engine you are on, in small type under the board. If you would rather Google never heard any of it, use Firefox or Safari, or switch listening off.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of services to make the room work. We do not sell data to anyone and there is no advertising.

ServiceWhat we send
Anthropic (Claude)Recent lines from the room's transcript and the board, so the AI participant can respond and so similar questions can be merged
ElevenLabsThe text the AI is about to say, so it can be spoken. Your voice is never sent
Fish AudioSame as above — a fallback voice provider
fal.aiA short description written from the conversation, when somebody asks the room to generate an image
GoogleMicrophone audio, but only on Chrome and Edge, and only for speech recognition — see above
Fly.ioHosting. Servers are in Los Angeles, USA

Cookies

None. No tracking cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting. The site stores a few small values in your browser's local storage — your name, a random ID, which panels you have collapsed, and whether listening is on — and those never leave your device except as described above. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Your choices

Getting something removed

Email hello@clubstage.org with the room, roughly when, and what was said or shown. Because there are no accounts we cannot look you up by email, so those details are what let us find it. We will remove transcript lines, clips and images on request.

If you are in the UK, EU, or a US state with a privacy law, you have rights to access, correct, delete and object. Use the same address and we will honour them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Club Stage is not for under-16s and we do not knowingly collect anything from children. If you believe a child has used the room, write to us and we will delete what we can find.

Changes

When this changes, the date at the top moves. We are not going to quietly start selling data; if anything on this page ever stops being true, it means we made a mistake — tell us.
